Me, my country and I

January 22, 2008 / by zuhair250

Since the time I have been blogging, I have discussed many things. My articles range from politics to cricket and to the terrorism in Pakistan. So I decided to post my own introduction for a change.

Reading my introduction, you would all know that I am a 21 years old man from Islamabad, the capital city of Pakistan. Generally people of my age in our society are more attracted towards fun filled activities like parties, outings, loud and fast music and more things like that. They would love seeing hollywood movies, musical shows, concerts and more stuff like that.

I also do such activities but perhaps not as actively as many other friends of mine. I take keen intrest in politics of the country and the world in general. I am more attracted to serious talk shows and political discussions as compared to action movies. This attitude sometimes makes me sad when I see  the haphazard politcal and social condition of my country.

The incidents of the year 2007 were a great pain for me. At first, the way injustice prevailed when the judges were sacked of their jobs. And my pain waas soon turned to hopelessness. As if there is no way out of this critical condition of the country when Ms Bhutto was killed. All my dreams that my country would become a place of harmony and justice were shattered. Only a fear remained that Pakistan my not survive for long. Extremely dangerous perception but looks to e a truth for now.

The discussion is once again becomming political but what can I do? whatever I try to do, I end up being in the same frame of mind. The termoil in which my country is in has some effect of my thinking and it invariably shows.

Don't despair. Progress takes time and can suffer many defeats, but others win if you don't persevere. Ms Bhutto's murder was indeed tragic, but she represented something much larger than herself -- she knew this and accepted the risks that this could happen, just as it did others in her family. The enemies of liberty and justice can kill individuals, but they only prevail if they're also allowed to kill the ideals and hopes of the people who support the  ones they kill. Don't yield to the killers and don't ever let them suppress and kill your hopes for Pakistan. As soon as you give up, you've given them the only thing they want -- your surrender. Do they deserve it or do you deserve better? :-)

I know that the terrorists want to see Pakistan derailled. But the deparation comes not only with the terrorist activities but also due to the way government is being run in the country.

    Thanks for the comment :-)

Dont be passimistic about the current situation. I believe that once the judiciary is restored , the situation will be getting better. But this is the time when young people like you and me should stard beliving in ourself and share hands with the lawyers and all those who are struggling for the restoration of judges. I am very hopeful that the problem of terrorism will be solved with the prevlence of justice in the country.
